"The Praying Company"

Theodore Wilder kept a detailed diary from the time of his enlistment in April, 1861 until he was discharged after being wounded in the Battle of Cedar Mountain, August 8, 1862.  During his lengthy convalescence in Oberlin, Ohio, he wrote the official history of his wartime unit, Company C of the Seventh Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and compiled "The Record," containing summaries of the character and fate of the individual members of his unit.

We have combined Theodore Wilder's wartime diary and his "History of Company C," along with letters he wrote from the battlefield, in a document entitled "The Praying Company."
