George and Gertrude Wilder
lived and worked in China from 1894 to 1943, when they were sent back to
the US aboard the prisoner-exchange ship Gripsholm. Their letters
and other writings, and Gertrude Wilder's paintings, are being posted here
to be shared by their descendents and others interested in this period of
Chinese history.
